The oldest continuously operating private school in Chicago, St. James Lutheran provides preschool-8th grade students with an education focusing on innovative and engaging coursework that shapes their intellectualspiritual, and physical well-roundedness. They needed an updated identity and messaging to attract a new generation of students.

Brand idea

Founded over 150 years ago, St. James Lutheran School offers preschool through 8th grade students innovative and engaging coursework that shapes their intellectual, spiritual, and physical well roundedness. St. James is your first choice in Lincoln Park, your first choice for inquiry-based learning, and your first choice to find the perfect Chicago high school.

We took an existing brand and gave it some new life for a new generation. With a nod to the school’s heritage, we created a modern-meets-traditional school seal, and brightened up the color palette. To celebrate the school’s longstanding presence in Lincoln Park, we layered photography of textures from the neighborhood with color overlays and utilized a grid to keep things structured.

Recruitment is the #1 objective every year for St. James, so the first order of business was to create a new admissions brochure. It features all that St. James has to offer with a new messaging and visual design.

We took over St. James’ existing webpage to match the updated look and feel. New logo, reconsidered key pages, an updated color palette and new ‘your first choice’ messaging front and center. Visit the site here.
